Role Mission
You'll be working within the In Vivo Sciences Chapter within Pharmaceutical Sciences. The Chapter owns and manages the Animal Care and Use Program at Roche Innovation Center Basel, enabling the different research functions on the site to conduct state of the art in vivo research to support pREDs portfolio and, thus, contribute to Roche`s 2030 ambitions.
As a clinical veterinarian/ veterinary scientist, you will be in charge of clinical oversight and case management in rodents and rabbits on site. In this role, you will be responsible for implementing and continuously evolving the veterinary program (including the surgical program) of the Animal Care and Use Program at Roche Innovation Center Basel. By applying your professional and personal strengths, you will contribute to creative problem solving, critical challenging of existing approaches and processes and create collaborative relationships across the organisation.
Your Impact
You will be responsible for clinical oversight and case management in rodents and rabbits on site
You will safeguard best practice and veterinary excellence in our Animal Care and Use Program by supporting and advising staff of the Chapter and other in vivo functions
You will support project teams with professional scientific veterinary expertise and judgement in drug efficacy and safety studies
You will maximise the impact of your expertise by contributing to training and supervising laboratory technicians and fellow researchers to expand their skills and knowledge
You will plan and conduct own research as needed to further improve the veterinary program
You will become a member of the veterinary team and contribute the the site`s continued full accreditation by AAALACi
The position will allow continuous professional development and veterinary education
Your Profile

You hold a doctorate in veterinary medicine (DVM, Dr.med.vet. or PhD)
You have practiced hands-on veterinary medicine in a clinical setting/ veterinary practice or you have completed a rotating internship in a veterinary clinic. Alternatively, you have hands-on experience as a clinical veterinarian in a research environment.
You can perform standard surgical procedures, are experienced and familiar with best practices in anesthesia and analgesia.
You are a team player and foster a collaborative spirit. You have excellent communication skills and are fluent in oral and written English.
You are well organized and committed to formal record keeping. You can adapt to a fast-paced, changing environment and see challenges as opportunities.
This position the position can be split (2 x 50%) or covered full time.
